Renaissance Venetian Lace Collar PDF Tutorial

This is a Renaissance costume tutorial, with instructions to create your very own Venetian lace collar, inspired by 16th century Italian artwork. This project is perfect for your next fantasy or reenactment event!

This listing is for a Tutorial that includes directions to create a wired Venetian lace collar, accurate to historical research and experimentation.**

Because you will fit the wire to your shoulders, the collar can fit any size. You can use this to achieve an absolutely perfect fit!

Materials Needed:
1.5 yards / meters 14 gauge wire
Wide Venetian lace*
-2 yards / meters 7”+ (17+ cm)
-OR 4 yards / meters 4”+ (10+ cm)
Narrow Venetian lace
-1 yard / meter 1.5” (3.8 cm)
-OR ½ yard / meter 3” (7.6 cm)
4 small O-rings or D-rings (optional)
3 yards / meters 3/8” (1 cm) Satin ribbon
Pliers
Starch (My favorite is neutral pH pure rice starch on Amazon)**

*If using the narrower width (4” / 10+ cm) lace, you will sew two pieces together to make it wider.

A. How to measure using a tape measure. *
B. Basic hand sewing.
C. How to bend wire using pliers.
