This is a costume pattern and tutorial, with instructions to sew your very own medieval open hood. This is a hood which is intended to be worn open in front. Choose between a plain hood style or a hood with rounded dagged edging. This project is perfect for your next festival or fantasy event, convention, reenactment, or Halloween!

Head circumference is measured around the crown of your head, above your eyebrows.

Materials required for this project:
sizes S-M:
½ – ¾ yd fabric 54”+ or ¾ – 1 yd fabric 44”+
½ – ¾ yd lining 54”+ or ¾ – 1 yd lining 44”+
sizes L-XL:
¾ – 1 yd fabric 54”+ or 1 – 1-¼ yd fabric 44”+
¾ – 1 yd lining 54”+ or 1 – 1-¼ yd lining 44”+
*For the smaller yardage, you may need to piece together some of the pattern pieces. For the larger yardage, you should be able to cut everything on the fold, avoiding the piecing.

You must have Basic to Intermediate knowledge of sewing before trying this project. It is best if you know how to do the following:
A. How to place, pin, and cut patterns out of fabric.
B. How to measure using a tape measure. *
C. Basic sewing using a home sewing machine.
D. How to align both straight and curved edges for sewing.
E. Be willing to create a mockup for optimal fit.
